Fastest Method
Check your Android battery in your browser โ right now
No app download, no settings to dig through. Open our free Battery Test tool in Chrome on your Android phone and it will instantly show your current battery level, whether the charger is connected, estimated time to full charge, and estimated time until empty โ all read live from your device.
Open Battery TestThe browser tool works on any Android device running Chrome or Chrome-based browsers (Edge, Opera, Samsung Internet). It uses the Web Battery Status API โ a browser standard that reads battery data directly from the Android system. No permissions are required and nothing is downloaded.
Note: the browser tool shows real-time battery level and charging data, but it does not show battery health percentage or cycle count โ those require deeper OS access. For full battery health details, use the methods below.
How to Check Battery via Android Settings
The easiest built-in route. The exact path varies slightly by manufacturer, but the general approach is consistent across Android 10 and later.
Open Settings
Swipe down from the top of your screen and tap the gear icon, or find Settings in your app drawer.
Tap Battery
On stock Android: Settings โ Battery. On Samsung One UI: Settings โ Battery and device care โ Battery. On MIUI (Xiaomi): Settings โ Battery & performance. On OxygenOS (OnePlus): Settings โ Battery.
Check Battery Health (Samsung & Some Others)
On Samsung Galaxy phones, tap Battery and device care โ Diagnostics โ Phone diagnostics โ Battery status. The result will show Good, Normal, or Replace soon. On Pixel phones running Android 14 or later, a battery health percentage is shown directly in Settings โ Battery โ Battery Health.
Battery Usage & App Drain
Inside the Battery section, tap Battery usage to see which apps are draining the most power. Apps with very high background battery usage can be restricted here to extend your battery life significantly.
Secret Dial Code to Check Android Battery Info
Android has a hidden diagnostic menu accessible via the Phone dialer. Open your Phone app, type the following code exactly as shown (do not press Call โ the menu opens automatically):
Enter in Phone dialer (works on most Android phones)
*#*#4636#*#*
This opens the Testing menu. Tap Battery information to see:
- Battery status โ charging, discharging, full, or not charging
- Battery level โ current percentage
- Scale โ maximum level (always 100)
- Battery health โ Good, Overheat, Dead, Over voltage, Unspecified failure, or Cold
- Battery technology โ typically Li-ion or Li-poly
- Battery temperature โ in tenths of a degree Celsius (215 = 21.5ยฐC)
- Battery voltage โ in millivolts (3850 = 3.85V)
This code works on most Samsung, Google Pixel, and stock Android devices. It may not open on some heavily customized skins like MIUI or ColorOS. If the code does not launch the menu, try the Developer Options method below.
Check Battery Details via Developer Options
Android's Developer Options includes a USB charging control section that shows detailed battery state. To enable Developer Options if you haven't already:
Enable Developer Options
Go to Settings โ About phone โ Software information โ Build number. Tap Build number seven times in a row. You'll see a countdown and then a message: "You are now a developer!"
View Battery Details
Go to Settings โ Developer options โ USB charging control. This shows the real-time current draw from charging in milliamps (mA), which tells you if your charger and cable are delivering full power. A significant reduction in charging speed (e.g. only 500mA when your charger supports 25W) can indicate a worn cable, dirty charging port, or degraded battery.
Battery Historian (Advanced)
For the most detailed battery analysis, Google's Battery Historian tool can parse a bug report from your Android device and produce a detailed timeline of exactly what was consuming battery power, when, and for how long. This is typically used by developers but is freely available. Run adb bugreport with Android Debug Bridge to generate the report.
What Android Battery Health Status Actually Means
The battery is healthy and operating within normal parameters. This is the expected status for batteries under about 500 charge cycles. A "Good" battery holds close to its original design capacity.
The battery temperature is too high. This can occur during fast charging in a hot environment or during heavy gaming. Persistent overheating accelerates battery degradation. Allow the phone to cool down and avoid wireless fast charging in direct sunlight.
The battery can no longer hold a charge. This usually means the battery has degraded beyond safe use and needs to be replaced by a certified repair shop or the manufacturer.
The battery is receiving or reporting a voltage higher than its rated maximum. This can be caused by an incompatible or counterfeit charger. Stop using the current charger immediately and use only the manufacturer-recommended one.
The battery temperature is too low for normal operation. Lithium-ion batteries perform poorly in cold environments (below 0ยฐC / 32ยฐF). Warm the phone to room temperature before charging or heavy use.
Check your real-time battery status in the browser
Our Battery Test tool shows your current battery level, charging state, and estimated time remaining โ live in Chrome on Android. It's the fastest way to check your battery without navigating any menus.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I check my Android battery health percentage?
On Pixel phones with Android 14+, go to Settings โ Battery โ Battery Health to see a percentage. On Samsung Galaxy phones, go to Settings โ Battery and device care โ Diagnostics โ Battery status. For most other Android phones, use the dial code *#*#4636#*#* to see battery health status (Good, Overheat, Dead, etc.), or use a third-party app like AccuBattery. You can also use our Battery Test tool for live level and charging data.
How many charge cycles does an Android battery last?
Most Android phone batteries are rated for 300 to 500 full charge cycles before capacity degrades to around 80% of the original. A charge cycle is one full 0โ100% charge (two 50% charges = one cycle). After 500 cycles, many phones still work fine but may need charging more frequently throughout the day. Heavy charging habits (keeping the phone plugged in at 100% overnight) can accelerate this.
Why does my Android battery drain so fast?
Common causes: screen brightness set too high, background apps running unnecessarily, always-on location services, a poor mobile signal (the radio uses more power searching for a signal), and battery age. Go to Settings โ Battery โ Battery usage to identify which apps are consuming the most power. Restricting background activity for heavy offenders can significantly improve battery life.
Does the battery test tool work on all Android phones?
Our Battery Test works on Android phones using Chrome, Edge, Opera, or Samsung Internet. It uses the Web Battery Status API, which these Chromium-based browsers support on Android. It does not work on Firefox for Android (the API was removed) or any browser on iOS.
